§1 Conditions for Registering .eu Domain Names

  1. The .EU top-level domain (TLD) is designated for the European community and is managed by the EURid registry.
  2. For details about blocked names and the reserved names process, please consult the EURid registry directly.

§2 .eu Domain Registration Requirements

To register a .EU domain, the following formatting guidelines must be adhered to:

  1. The domain name must be between 2-63 characters in length.
  2. Permissible characters include letters (A-Z), numbers (0-9), and hyphens, except as the 1st, 3rd, 4th, or last character of the domain name.
  3. Special characters (e.g., &, #) are not permitted.
  4. Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) are not supported.

§3 Residency Requirements

To register a .EU domain, the applicant must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. An EU citizen, regardless of their place of residence.
  2. A natural person who is not an EU citizen but resides in a Member State.
  3. A business entity established in the EU.
  4. An organization established in the EU, subject to applicable national law.

§4 Registering a .eu Domain

If the .eu domain registration requirements are met, the following general domain registration rules apply:

  1. By placing an order for domain registration, the Client authorizes Smartx Technologies to forward this order to the appropriate registry or registry partner authorized to register the given domain. Should the Client decide to extend the domain’s validity, Smartx Technologies will relay this information to the appropriate registry or registry partner.
  2. Smartx Technologies is not a domain registrar but acts as an intermediary in the registration process through agreements with registries or their partners. This provision also applies when Smartx Technologies attains the status of a registry partner.
  3. The terms and privacy policies of the registries and their partners are available at https://docs.smartxhosting.uk.
  4. In accordance with domain registration rules, user data is transmitted to the WHOIS database.
  5. Until the user begins utilizing the domain, Smartx Technologies reserves the right to place a notice at the domain address indicating that the domain was registered via Smartx Technologies and that technical support is provided by the company. This notice may include the Smartx Technologies logo and a link to their website.
  6. The Client authorizes registry partners to perform, on their behalf, actions related to the registration, maintenance, change of registrant, deletion of the domain, and management of domain data.
  7. The Client also authorizes Smartx Technologies to perform these actions when the company attains the status of a registry partner. The Client agrees that Smartx Technologies will carry out all legal actions related to the registration and maintenance of the domain.
  8. The Client grants Smartx Technologies consent and authorization to perform all necessary actions related to the registration and maintenance of the domain, including obtaining the AuthInfo code and transferring the domain service to another registry partner.
  9. This authorization also applies if Smartx Technologies becomes a registry partner and intends to transfer domains from another registry partner.
  10. These authorizations facilitate the execution of orders and instructions submitted by the Client as part of the services, ensuring their optimal delivery.

§5 Right to Refuse Domain Registration

  1. Smartx Technologies reserves the right to refuse domain registration in the following cases:
    1. The domain is already registered.
    2. The registry refuses to register the domain based on its regulations.
    3. The domain contains illegal content.
    4. The Client attempts to register a .eu domain without meeting the residency requirements.

  2. Upon placing an order for domain registration, the domain is not reserved. The principle of “first come, first served” applies. Smartx Technologies will register the domain within 24 hours of receiving the paid order. The payment deadline is not a reservation deadline for the domain, and Smartx Technologies does not guarantee its availability at the time of payment.
  3. In the event of non-payment for domain registration within 10 days of placing the order, Smartx Technologies may immediately terminate the agreement. If, during this time, another person registers the domain, Smartx Technologies will refund the payment within 14 days.
  4. Termination notices may also be issued via a communication in the subscriber’s account.
  5. In the case of free domain registration as part of a promotion, the “first come, first served” principle also applies. The domain will be registered within 24 hours of accepting the promotional agreement. If another person registers the domain during this time, Smartx Technologies may immediately terminate the registration agreement.
